Want to keep up to speed with the latest developments in the retail and visual merchandising sector? Each year, the best in the business put on more and more industry events, making it that little bit harder to know where to pass your precious time. For that reason, like every year, we have done a round-up of the top 10 international events for 2019 to point you in the right direction.


1. NRF Retail’s Big Show – New York (USA) 

13-15 January 


The largest retail tradeshow of the world is celebrated each year in the Jacob K. Javits Centre, located in the heart of the Big Apple. For 3 days, 700 exhibitors show the latest technologies and innovations to more than 37,000 visitors from more than 100 countries. Without doubt, it's a must if you’re a “tech-y” person. What’s more, for the first time, Kendu will be participating (stand #3437), presenting the new generation of Flowbox that will immerse the public in an interactive experience, with thanks to the technology of INTEL.

2. Retail Shopfitting & Display Summit - London (UK)

4-5 February  


This boutique retail event is perfect for time poor decision makers who need a tailor-made experience. The Retail Shopfitting & Display Summit will put together a timetable of pre-selected meetings with solution providers of your choice, from fixtures and fittings to retail tech. If you’d like to know more about Kendu’s innovative solutions, be sure to add us to your selection. On arrival, visitors will be given 25-minute slots to have an informal chat about how to solve retail pain points. Even though it’s free to attend, it has a real VIP feeling, with only 70 key retailers taking part.

3. Barcelona Fashion Summit – Barcelona (Spain)

5 February  


Tickets are now on sale to the 7th edition of the Barcelona Fashion Summit at the emblematic National Theatre of Catalunya. All big decision makers of the sector will be speaking there, representing brands such as Desigual, Mango, Pepe Jeans and Adolfo Dominguez. Under the theme of ‘Fashion Year 0: Keys to Reinvent the Fashion Business’, it’s clear that the talks and round tables will be focussing on the most disruptive ways to shake up the sector.

4. Internet Retailing Expo – Birmingham (UK)  

3-4 April 


There are not many retailers that can survive without an online presence these days and the Internet Retail Expo is the perfect place to understand how successful retailers have managed to climb the online ladder. Over 5,000 retailers, brands and industry experts will head to the NEC to meet exhibitors, attend the conference, drop into expert clinics and take part in workshops to get hands on experience of the latest technologies, all designed to drive online growth.

5. Madrid Retail Week – Madrid (Spain)

3-4 April 


Madrid Retail Week covers four key areas of retail - ecommerce, digital marketing, design and technology – and spans everything from social commerce to sensorial marketing, from lighting to virtual reality. There were over 8,000 visitors to the previous show called ‘Shop’ last year, from brands such as Ikea, Coca Cola and Corte Ingles.

6. Retail Expo – London (UK)

1-2 May  


The Retail Design Expo takes a new format this year as it joins forces with Retail Digital Signage Expo and Retail Business Technology Expo under one umbrella event, the Retail Expo. It’s in response to an extensive piece of independent customer research that highlighted the rapidly changing world of retail and the need for design to work more closely with tech, property and marketing to deliver enhanced customer experiences. You’ll find over 15,000 retailers, brands, retail design businesses and tech exhibitors all under one roof at London’s Olympia.

7. World Retail Congress – Amsterdam (Netherlands) 

14–16 May  


To get an insight into some of the brightest minds in retail, including those from economics, academia, politics and NGOs, be sure to buy your 3-day pass to this forward-thinking show. By visiting different Labs throughout the exhibition, you’ll get to go deep, exploring topics such as the differences between Millenials and Gen Z, how to target the consumer’s cognitive decision-making process and where robots can and cannot replace humans in a retail setting.

8. Globalshop Retail X – Chicago (USA)

25-27 June 


With 27 years of history, Globalshop continues to be a reference point for retail and design professionals. Following a successful first edition in Chicago, the event will stay put in its new location and merge with the world's largest e-commerce event (IRCE) and remain the only event in the world dedicated to retail-applied RFID (RFID Journal LIVE! Retail), forming Retail X. Once again, Kendu will be present at stand 3815. We will be waiting for you!

9. Paris Retail Week – Paris (France)

25-27 September 


Paris Retail Week 2019, the major-league connected-retail ecosystem gathering, will bring together professionals from the world of digital retail and marketing in Paris with the aim to offer them a ground-breaking tradeshow experience where they can discover practical solutions, innovations and tools for developing their business. 10. International Retail Design Conference - Boston (USA)

Sept. 30-Oct. 2


This annual intimate event serves as a meeting point for designers and visual merchandisers from around the world in 3 days full of round tables, workshops and networking activities. This edition will take place in Boston, where over 400 professionals will meet to unveil the future of retail together.
